Re: wanted mast to fit national 12

I have a proctor D section which you are welcome to for a pint or two but you would probably require something a bit more modern. There is also the problem of getting it south.

Re: Varnish

From my experience you will always see where the varnish has been patched up. Having said that it really depends in what you are looking for. If you are after a perfect finish then you will at aome time heave to take the whole lot back to wood but I don't think you have anything to lose by trying ju...

Re: Merlin Rocket wanted

A quick look a couple of months ago did not reveal an terminal rot but I stress a quick look. Let me know if you want me to mak...

Re: west country help needed

I am sorry for obvious reasons i cann't help but I must say that I have often used the excuse that the boat belongs to somebody else, I did slip up once when I told she who does not get her feet wet that I had been lent the boat quite truthfully, only I did not tell her later that I bought the boat....

Re: Christmas Quiz Answers!

Got rid of my AC national 12 and Harrier + and got a merlin, MSN4 just misses qualification as an old boat by a year, but it will always be the 12 or Moth that I bring to CVRDA event when I finally make it to one.

Re: Harrier+ on the bay

I have a Harrier+ which I have managed to capsize a few times, I don't recall any problem getting the water out through the transom flaps, just sit well back and keep her flat.
Unfortunately I just don't have enough lard to make her go in anything less than a light breeze.

Re: Spreaders - when did they come into fashion?

I wouldn't worry too much about not keeping up with the Solos I always struggled even in a considerably more modern 12! The advantage with spreaders is that they give you a lot more contol over the bend in the mast, in particular with a 12 allowing prebend to aid depowering. Trying to fit spreaders ...
