Re: Transom flap on my National 12
Most of the 60s era vintage 12s seem to manage to get water out of the transom flaps although there is a bit of a technique to it. sit right back over the transom and get on a broad reach and keep the boat flat (which is the hardest thing), you actually don't have to get going very fast to start los...

Re: Dinghy Ident please
It is a National 12 built in 1956. It is a Flying Saucer designed by Jack Holt.
I think the asking price is a tad on the high side.

Harrier and skol mk 2
I need to rationalise my fleet so I have a Harrier + and a Skol mk 2 for sale, The Harrier seems fairly sound and has a good main and a combi trailer. The paint work on the decks is not good but I think that is cosmetic. She came from whitby I think and has a no 3 on her. A lovely boat to sail but I...

Re: sailability boat?
Don't you put rows of shields down the sides for stability, and you have to be careful coming ashore in a strange place incase locals attempt to repel raiders!

Re: International 14s
Hi John I cann't remmeber the number just at the moment and the sails are stored abourt 40 miles away. I have a feeling they are in the 600s but could not be sure. I am just a few miles south of Perth (Scotland). I will be going to an event on the tyne in 3 weeks time and can brobably manage to leav...

Re: International 14s
I have an old main and jib off an old Howard Stevenson boat, they came with my National 12 so not much use to me, however I have never really looked at them but think they are well past there best before date but you would be welcome to them for the cost of postage if you think they would be any use.

Re: Excitement in a skol moth!
I managed to pitch pole a Skol many moons ago, it happened so fast I went air born, fortunately by that time I had learnt to hang onto the mainsheet when I capsized as by the time I resurfaced the boat was the full length of the mainsheet away. despite the violence of the event no damage was done an...

Re: Introductions

I started messing about in boats before I can remember althoguh didn't do muchsailing then and I have long pe...

Re: Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat
I am really enjoying this thread, not least for the photography, it reminds me of mine unfortunately when I'm doing it I am trying to clarrify rather than obscure if you get my drift. I am pretty clueless, I did wonder about a Street Legal but I check a few photos and the max beam is well forward of...

Re: Early Int. Moth info.
I would like to add my support to any vintage moth activity and the recovery of moth archives. I have a Skol mk2 which I have been unable to find any number on.

Re: Harrier sail
I have both and I can asure you they are very different. The Harrier owes much to merlin rockets don't know about the pedigree of the Skol. On the subject of sails I tried a national 12 sail on the harrier, I was still over powered and got stuffed by a laser but we were the only two boats to finish ...
