flaps or self bailers - your opinions please..
Good afternoon I have removed the Anderson type bailers from the hull for inspection and things there weren't good. So I have the option , as I can see that holes in the transom have been filled at some stage, to fit transom flaps instead and block the holes in the hull.... fewer holes in the bottom...

This morning I took many layers of paint from my Albacore for restoration and found the original number carved into the woodwork....

Took the centreboard out of my '69 Albacore , A bit scraped where it rotates in the box and some paint missing here and there so I have stripped it down. what is your opinion on either painting it again or varnishing it , varnish as hardwearing as painting? etc? So , more about this planned refurb of my old Alb. having looked online and so on , most decnt varnish seems to be around £25 to £35 per litre....However , happened to be in Homebase and B&Q over the weekend whiere they sell "Ronseal Yacht varnish" for around £32 for 2.5 litres.... Any...

So I have been through all the advice and searched all over for the most cost effective method of getting a lovely finish to my Albacore...I had another suggestion, to use boiled linseed oil mixed with paraffin 50/50 , rub this in to the wood, the paraffin carries the oil in and evaporates...then us...

Thanks for everything so far - lots of varnishes I have looked at state "above waterline only"...should this be read as gospel - is there a product to varnish my hull - or does it not really matter?
