I realise this is going to sound like a stupid question but I was going to try and do a couple of events this year and was wondering do I have to be a member to participate at an event? The reason I ask is that I see the membership runs from 1st august for a year but the first event I was looking at...

i have a 1983 mk3 ford capri, use it every day for work and for towing the boats, its a bit of a project, has had a new engine fitted bored out to 2.1litres with a high torque cam. low ration back axle fitted, and plenty of carbon fibre fitted too.

My parents have a fixed top deck west mersea that they picked up second hand, we used it last year for the scorpion nationals and it to tows like a dream, only took 5 to lift the top boa on and off even after a weeks tiring racing

only just seen this post but is there a date for this? if it fits around club racing and scorpion nationals i could bring a magnum 8 moth over

i built a carbon mast for my magnum 8 using a broken rs 600 mast, they snap at the goosneck but there is more than enough mast left to make a moth mast, just make sure you use stainless fitting cause carbon fibre will react with aluminium

it sounds an interesting event, can i raise one point though, sailing backwards round a course or picking up objects that kind of thing is great fun and can be challenging even in a two man boat let alone a single handed boat, my concern is those that sail boats such as a classic international moth ...
