Re: Roadford 10th Anniversary Event. August Bank Holiday Weekend
Just a quick word of warning to anyone coming down to Roadford for the first time. - The slip roads off the A30 are quite short and have a 90 degree bend in them. If you are towing you may well want to scrub 30/40 mph off your speed before taking the bends, - it would be a pity to get within 2 miles...

Re: Mirror mast top collar
My first boat was Mirror 4341, ("Weary Friar") and I so wish I still had her, her original cotton sails won me my first sailing trophy in the mid 80's. I could have brought her to Roadford - would have had to let someone borrow her though, - I definitely Finn sized now.

Re: Finn Video
thanks Graham,
I'll try it again. See you in a couple of weeks. Taking the tent to Cornwall to test it before the Aug bank holiday...I too got a weekend off (kids to grandparents) so will be camping(/drinking) at Roadford.

Re: Finn Video
I can't get the video to work either, does any one know of any other source, or could suggest a solution?

Re: Changes to Constitution for 10year anniversary?
Despite suggesting ORDA, I actually think that Ed has got it about right. It was merely a suggestion that addressed the some of the issues we have all been discussing. The only issue I have with the current constitution is the pre-65 design requirement . While I understand the reasoning, I personall...

Re: Changes to Constitution for 10year anniversary?
Ref: ORDA, If it makes any difference to any of the other discussions, I would be happy enough to run this. (As long as it came within/alongside the CVRDA. i.e. I don't mind being the point of contact and co-ordinator of "old" boat questions/racing/etc that come through the CVRDA.) Persona...

Re: Changes to Consitution for 10year anniversary?
It wouldn't be a change to the Constitution specifically, but how about adding an automatic age related handicap advantage. - i.e. for every 5 years older than 25yrs, one number higher on the handicap? So the older the boat the better the handicap, even within the same class and with similar levels ...

Re: Changes to Consitution for 10year anniversary?
To me, it looks like the CVRDA fulfils 2 purposes ("preserving/conserving boats, knowledge and skills for classic and vintage boats"; and providing a class "association for old boats" (either because the class doesn't exist or because by become "old" the boat is no long...

Re: Changes to Consitution for 10year anniversary?
Hi, I'm new to the CVRDA having only recently joined the Finn fleet at Roadford. I'm really looking forward to the Nationals in August - putting names to faces and admiring the boats, AND the racing. Although I appreciate the work and effort many members of the CVRDA put into preserving, conserving ...

Re: Lazy E info
Hi, I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum who know the Lazy E and will be able to help and plenty more with advice about putting it back together. My 1974 Guide to Classes has a comment about the Lazy E which says "Variations in interior arrangements and cockpit fittings allowed.&qu...

Re: Boom needed for a Finn!
Ref your outhaul, my Finn boom is actually two ends patched together so I can't run the outhaul purchase inside the boom as "standard". I have a single line running through the boom which emerges between the kicker and mainsheet and then a series of blocks hanging under the boom give the p...
