Nomination for optimist of the year
I know it is only April but.....
Bought for £97

Now for sale at £800

Mind you, it must have been expensive to graft the extra two feet in.
Don't you just love eBay

Given it wasn't a minsail first time round, even, it could be 16 feet. Doesn't look it, though.

Still has too many zeros in the price
That raised bit over the transom looks vaguely familiar but it seems there were more minisail varieties than I realised so it might be the "wing" mentioned here.

I would really wonder if anyone was that desperate to go sailing, still as Phineus T Barnham said "there is a sucker born every minute".

Re: Nomination for optimist of the year
Mad, quite mad. I gave a slightly rotten one of these to someone as a flower planter once, as I decided it was too ugly to spend any time on fixing it. Named after a packet of fags, too.

We sold our old club Embassy for £40, then they remaned her 'Firewood', felt somewhat insulted at that.

Old boats are usually far too rotten to burn properly!

Northern Lights are especially good thanks to the Ash Cloud effect, had some cracking Turner Sun Sets too thanks to the dust, Turner of course was blessed with the Kralatoa effect!

Re: Nomination for optimist of the year
The other "Turner" effect was said to be due to Cataracts. These, from personal experience are a bit like looking through a nicotine stained window, and so in order to be able to see the coulors he remembered on the canvas, he had to paint with much brighter coulors. It is a "problem" I am told that is evident also in Monet's paintings, where there is a changing emphasis on the different color accents, and some of the other famous artists also.
I thought the main reason for our recent improved sunsets was 1.) High pressure and clear skies, assotiated with the anticyclonic pattern of air flow that brought the ash in our direction in the first place, and 2.) Clear skies and absence of vapour trails. The day the flights returned I couldn't believe just how much these affected the look of the skies.
Northern lights are more to do with Sun spots, polar magnetism and Solar wind. The Ash I would have thought is far to low in the atopmosphere to influence this and again, absence of vapour trails will have lead to generally better visibility of the phenomenum.

Nope - the whole thing is an excess of hot air from the politicians. "Ash for questions" - the next big scandal!!

Michael,
I hesitate to disagree with a medical man of wisdom and perspicacity I think the cataracts thing was Monet as can been seen in the various waterlilly pictures where the colours change as he ages and thus the paintings done more recently as his cataracts advanced. Or so my Grandfather told me.
