Any Wikipedia-authors out there?

Post by Ed »

Someone has just asked me to write some pages for Wikipedia.

I know this is all pretty simple....but wondered if we had anyone on the forum who had done it a fair bit and was able to give some pointers on the best way of going about it.

cheers

exaggerate, promote rumour and myths, and slyly rip off copyright material from elsewhere?

Hi,
I was coauthor of the Wikipedia Mermaid dinghy page, coming up with text was not too hard but there is a lot of tricky formatting to get through!

Go and play in the sandbox first.

You can also set up your own mediawiki as easily as wordpress - I've got them both on my laptop.

Hi

yes its not too hard I have authored a couple of things and editied a couple of others. I was aiming to do more but then we started to discuss upgrading our CVRDA classes database and I thought, that would be a better place to do these things.

Just have a go - use the sandbox to practice in!

Main tip - as for any multimedia / internet authoring - decide what you are going to say b4 you start. Get all the images and copy that you wish to use before starting.

Then, read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... _Wikipedia

enjoy!
