Top Hat and Tails.
Top Hat and Tails.
Saturday our safety boat went to investigate a bright green object on far side of pool, their was a gentleman in Top hat and tails, check shirt, jeans, highly polished cambridge shoes (no socks) paddling a childs inflatable dinghy, this well spoken man was appalled to find he was not allowed to paddle his boat on pool and could not apologise enough, he then asked for a nudge to bank, he had lost one of his paddles, no buoyancy aid, you would not want chafe marks on your best jacket, anyone else had strange days?

I'm appalled, doesn't everyone go boating in top hat and tails?

Re: Top Hat and Tails.
perhaps the top hat doubled as buoyancy, he may have thought the beach boat event was on and had turned up has Screaming Lord Such.

Re: Top Hat and Tails.
Nothing quite as eccentric perhaps, but one Tuesday evening , just when our race had finished and we had left the water, a hot air balloon tried to land in the lake. He did just dip into the water before realising this lovely, very green, level, smooth patch amongst all the tall pine trees was not a grassy lawn. He quickly turned up the heat and took off again!
That same day just a few minutes before the five minute gun a mini twister sucked up a spiral plume of water that rose to a little over the height of our masts. We've always known Shearwater's winds were all over the place but I've never seen it that clearly demonstrated!

Re: Top Hat and Tails.
There was a day, also at Shearwater, when we had to remove a 4x4 that someone left in the water at the bottom of the slipway.

Hi Sami, that is better explanation than any we could come up with, hot air balloon most exciting so far.
