Graduate or Freshman

Post by Pat »

I've been asked to post this:

Hi, would you or another expert be able to look at these photos and let me know if the boat is a Freshman or a Graduate, or a Graduate with a Freshman sail?

Thanks if you can.

I'm new to photobucket, but I think clicking on these links will take you to the photos
Cheers
James

Never heard of a Freshman? Not a Grad, though.

Excellent another class to add to the list. Definitely not a Grad, but like Rupert a new class on me. Looks quite nice though.

Pat/James,

can we have some background to the boat - the where and when (even if we don't yet have the what fully).

I'm really puzzled though as I saw a hull like this recently - MUST get out with the camera more!

James - it would be great if you could run a tape measure over the hull

If you think that this one is hard, the new edition of Dinghy Mag (out 6th December) has a picture in there with a 'what is it' that has really got me head scratching.

THink the front half of an OK - but shaped more like a Graduate - but the back half very Mirror 14ish - beamy, flat, well flared.

A single hander, for sitting out - someone made a nice job of it as the inwales are chamfered.

I was shown the pic today and failed to place it - I'll be keen to see wht comments arise once the mag is out.

It is a Freshman - check out Charles Smith's Tradboat site under Sail Markings. I don't know anything about it though, but may have something when I get a little time to look.

Regards
