Is there such a thing as an 'Achat' class dinghy?

Post by cweed »

Can anyone confirm that there is an ‘Achat’ class, or is it the makers’ name?
It is 4.1m long and 1.65wide with a steel centreplate and lockable hatch in the foredeck.
It is seemingly abandoned at my club and we are needing to identify the boat in the hope of tracing the owner.
It seems to have a German builders plate on it, with 'Achat Segal Jolle', Boots Vertrieb Schwarz KG.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi,

searching on "Achat jolle" brings up lots of German/Austrian sites - mainly yardstick lists and small ads. One mentions 4.2 LOA and 1.8 beam so you may have to wade through them to find a photo. My limited German leads me to believe that they are club raced alongside 420s.

Good luck,

Nigel

And here it is...

I *think* segal jolle is roughly sailing class, and I might hazard a guess that Boots Vertrieb Schwarz AG means Vertrieb Schwarz Boats Ltd.
