Sandy looked at the emblem and suggested Dipper as another possible bird. May be another line to try?

I was quite convinced....

the boat looks so familiar

and the name 'Wren' also.

It must be documented somewhere. We will have to keep looking

cheers

My 1974 copy of "Sailing boats of the world" has this:

"Curlew", Percy Blandford design 1965. Single chine plywood. LOA 9'0, beam 4'0. No deck. Wooden spars. Gunter sloop, 50sq ft.

Thats the shortest beak I have ever seen on a curlew :?

Iain Oughtred used to make a Wren. I think it was ply clinker but it may be the cause of some confusion.

The Inisignia isn't a Curlew though is it it is a Wren but then not all yachtmen are twitchers.

I don't think it's a Curlew, although the dimensions match. The insignia is nothing like a curlew or the insignia from a curlew, see Shamals pic and the attached:

Can't be a curlew as you define curlew as having no decks whereas the "Wren" has a neat foredeck.
It's nice to have two totally separate examples along at once (like London buses) as it proves it's a genuine boat, not just something with the wrong rig.

I think Graham may be right and the insignia could easily be a wagtail. The tail and body are rather long for a wren.

The Insignia certainly looks like a Wagtail although it is curiously hard to find a piture of a wagtail that matches it. This was the best I could find...
HOWEVER, ther is also a "Wagtail" dinghy claimed by Salterns. Perhaps as suggested , a duplicate name...

... but a very different boat to the one with this insignia.

The plot thickens.

Hi All who are Interested, The Embassy Dinghy's are very much alive, I haven't sold mine (as Pat thought above). My Embassy is about to be launched end of November the restoration project is completed. I now have two Embassy's having rescued one from another Sailing Club who sadly had no time to give her the TLC she needed. At the moment all the Embassy Information known, is what I have on my website. The only missing information is what her handicap would be, same as the Mirror ? Fair Winds.
P.S. I am pleased to hear the 'Wren' with Sail 153 is identified. The owner emailed a photo to me, thinking their boat was an Embassy, so I put the phioto up in the club house to see if anyone could identify it.

Embassy
I'm the owner of 'Wren' 153. I've never thought she was an Embassy and I've not e mailed you. We've not positively identified her and have yet to find anyone who can tell us anything about her. If someone at your club has some information on her I'd be very grateful if you'd share it with me (and Shamal, the owner of the other 'Wren').

Apologies Ruth I thought I'd seen it for sale. How about bringing the Embassy to Baltic Wharf (Bristol) on the 21st Nov for a launch sail at the cvrda event?
