Is it UK built? I've heard of very few cedar strip dinghies in the UK.

At least the photo of the mystery pole showing a section of bow tank makes sense now.

Is it N3415 the Gerry Ledger built Wild Front Ear, the first double bottomed National 12? I think there have been 5 of these built, all of them in cedar strip.

No side tanks in a Wild Front Ear, surely? Or am I still looking at the pics in the wrong way?

Day 15:
Difficult to photograph but I've tried, so there's an arrow to help! A functional feature but I've only seen it on state of the art racing yachts of the 70's and 80's before.

Definitely N3215; the WFE requires the bump at midlenth to meet the rise of floor measurement rule.

I think you may mean 3415. Everything seems to fit that exept that the only picture of it I can find seem to show a conventional foredeck, but then the image is not thta clear.

Personally I think its a shame that those who thought or think they know dont send their idea in a pm(as suggested earlier in the thread) so that the rest of us less knowledgeable types could continue to stumble around with our outlandish suggestions.
Unfortunately there are still 9 days to go but it seems that some think they have it solved. I was looking forward to more pics without knowing the answer.

I agree, but it isn't certainly true yet. I don't want to offend anyone, but in a sense I am rather hoping they are wrong!

Everybody know what will be behind the flap on Christmas day!

It will be Santa Claus in his Crimson Cloak, in his Crimson (and white) Sleigh

Image

The interesting bit will be what sail emblem he is hiding inside his Sack...

Or perhaps not. It is after all not Santa's sleigh. So we can look forward to something a little more exciting?....

Perhaps Mrs Merlin will be wearing her party dress

She's been airbrushed - I don't think the bump on that boat has been.... or maybe there is more to this girl than meets the eye?

You've got to hand it Michael- excellent idea re last day of the calendar opening to reveal a sail emblem! Concern in the Merlin household now though, how did those Mrs Merlin pics get leaked?
16th day of xmas- Marcus will be along in a minute to tell you how this boats immediate sister (not great aunt, cousin twice removed or any other distant relative) managed to win a prize for clinker?
Pic of transom as promised:
