Bad luck - I know the wasted journey scenario all too well. I am afraid with trailers you tend to get what you you pay for particularly if they have been anywhere near the sea.

If you are interested in spending a bit more I am looking to dispose of a virtually unused Mersea/Snipe 250 combi (road base and launching trolley suitable for 12-15ft). It is redundant as I bought it new about 18 months ago to replace a defunct one but then ended up with a second one that came with a another boat. Anyhow if you are interested pm or email me and I will give you details and (up-to-date!) photos.

Good news, under distance selling regulations, he has had to pay a full refund.
