Is this a Peggie?

Post by Rich »

Definitely not an Ent or Wayfarer (no chines) and too short for an Albacore

Somehow those chines at the bow made me think of a pimped up Skipper 14! 8) 8)

...but on closer looking there is a bit of a keel on it where a skipper has a smooth botom.

The rather home mde deck might have been put on a speedboat hull and the Plate looks a bit racy as well.

For want of a better name it is a bit of a Chimaera. Designed perhaps by Mary Shelley.

Its a very Peter Milne bow isn't it. No ideas though.

As you say, very Peter Milne. So what about a Mirror 14 ? Bow is right, and those wide side decks, but I don't remember M14's having a rear deck. Guess it could have been added later. The M14 was actually 14ft 6in confusingly, but the ebay tape measure could have struck again. Stitch and glue lent itelf to chine construction.

Sorry guys but a mirror 14 'it ain't'!!!!!

Nor is that line on the bow a chine. It is a possible spray line or reinforcement strip which, with that lovely bow profile, I agree does make one think Milne.

So, I'm not saying what it is but only what it isn't!

I'm annoyed though - somewhere in the deep recesses of the brain this is sparking of a memory. Will work on it!

Is it a snipe? That's what came to mind as soon as I clapped eyes in it?
