Oh Michael.....how annoying....
lots of great footage of 'Dicey' K101, but none I am afraid of Torment K102.
Still some brilliant footage.
I will let Jim Champ post it to the IC forum as he is pushing canoe history stuff there.
Also wonderful to see some on-boat action shots, taken a full 50 years before the ubiquitous GoPro made it all so easy.
But brilliant find. Well done.

I wasn't able to watch this on my PC at work, and was salivating at the prospect of going home to see if torment was there, but I wont bother now.Ed wrote:Oh Michael.....how annoying....

so thanks for the heads up.
Torment...
I have rigged up some supended oars horizontally in the garage and draped floor sealant blue Polythene* over the whole thing by way of a tent, to stop the spiders and other things dropping dust as I hope to get some varnishing done as soon as it is warm enough to spend time in the garage.
* this stuff is just so amazingly cheap from any big builders mercchant and seems to be indestructable. Also comes in enormous sizes. (20' wide rolled double! and up to 50m on a roll!)

Oh it is still really worthwhile having a gander at it.
That Blue polythene sheeting is pretty incredible and as you say so cheap. The Phelps scull is wrapped in it at the moment and that is the second year for it, so it lasts longer than most tarps. Mind you, it doesn't last forever and does in the end get very brittle and tears really easily. But as you say, at that cost, it doesn't really matter too much.

Re: Early Nethercot one design IC's
I reckon there's at least one Brit boat using a borrowed sail though (first time through I thought hang on, what date is this) until I realised that there was an inserted 1 in the sail number, presumably to make it unique. Valuable to watch it also for boat fitout and sailing techniques.Michael Brigg wrote: I wasn't able to watch this on my PC at work, and was salivating at the prospect of going home to see if torment was there, but I wont bother now.
Its the 1971 Europeans on Steinhudermeer, W germany I am informed by one of the competitors, more on the IC forum and web site for those interested.

Re: Early Nethercot one design IC's
Well - I am researching a particular canoe while deciding if I am going to buy it. The canoe's history is not well known. However, the sails had measurer's marks on from the 1971 event on SMeer, so I googled that using advanced search to declutter the results. The German archive people had the video and up it came!JimC wrote:Video much appreciated in the IC section on SA... Thanks again. How on earth did you find it?
I have shared the link in case it prompts any memories, and am hoping that it might!
