JPA will remember more about this boat than me. I'm sure it has featured on here before, as it was at Whitefriars. It may have been called the Vortex (before the other one) but it may have been another word for sucking water into vents. Brain has died on me. I know I never understood why they thought the science would work, as to me it looked exactly and precisely wrong.

Certainly looks all wrong...a cereal bowl rocker! It came up while looking for a trailer.

It was a concept where channels from the deck through to the floor directed air, the idea being that the air stream would reduce drag. A bit like gigantic self bailers, but there aim to shift air into the surface layers.

The concept was turned into a gigantic thing (as you can see) with a very very very heavy construction.. I doubt if it could ever have got to the speeds needed to work.

It was left somewhat derelict at WSC for several years - it seems now for sale.
