Itom dinghy

Post by realnutter »

Has anyone ever heard of them? There's one for sale on Facebook at the moment, and I like the look of it... Laser sized but with a deeper hull for added comfort... low aspect ratio rig to reduce hiking.. Must be quite modern as it has carbon spars... But google turns up nothing about it at all...

The ad mentions it was built by Dave Naylor, but he's similarly absent from google...

Well, I thought I knew what an Itom was....

but looking at the images at: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater

It isn't what I imagined at all...

Rather interesting really. I quite like it to.....well as much as I can like any 14ftish, una-rigged, jibless, plastic boat, which to be honest.....isn't that much :-)

As far as I know Itom was an italian motorcycle famous for it's sports 50cc racers in the late fifites. They made history when an english girl was the first woman ever to compete with a sports Itom at the Isle of Man TT in the 50cc Grand prix Class...
