11+ GRP

Post by cweed »

This topic is current under 'Swallows and Amazons', so have given it its' own heading..........

I checked my 1971 'Boat World Guide To Dinghies'.

The entry for the 11+ says: Construction 'Marine plywood or Glass reinforced plastic'.

The Class secretary's comments : 'The GRP version has a more modern layout, with buoyancy tanks running the full length of the cockpiy, the afterdeck being omitted.'

The only 'supplier' suggested is Dobsons Yacht and Boatbuilders, Derby.

My copy of 'Sailing Boat Recognition' by Blandford 1970 also mentions GRP and builders Dobsons Yacht and Boat Builders, Derby.

Of more general interest, I see they have a lot of boats from the Thornhill collection for auction, what's the story there?

Finn K88 looks good.

Maybe start a separate thread on that if you want to generate a reply? Think your post will get lost in a thread about 11+ and more especially the fabled grp 11+!

Michael - nice looking hull, but presume that’s all there is. Different mast mounting to mine. My mast bottom has the original type which screw adjusts , and has a Male protrusion that swivels in the female fitting on the foredeck.
Can’t quite read the hull number if that’s what I’m seeing on the transom?
If anyone buys it, I have a Heron set up that would go well on to it.
