Crewsaver Buoyancy Bags

Post by jonathan »

One of my buoyancy bags has popped at the seam. It looks as though the two parts may be heat welded together. Has anyone out there fixed one of these by reheating or is it a glue job? If the former is press down with a soldering iron tip or some other method and if the latter what glue is going to be strong enough?

Answers please on a pc (geddit? well the non Applemac folks might!)

We've fixed some bags successfully. The repair kits use Bostik All Purpose glue and we've used both this and Locite soft plastic glue (on Holt grey bags).

Glueing then clamping seam with a small spring clamp (with something between clamp and bag to prevent sticking) worked for us.

Also raided the chandlery barge and got some new bags very cheap. Your place at Woodbridge may be worth a visit!
