Thinking of setting up a specialist barber shop in my shed - for over 40's with the long hair blind spot! But he has a point.

My temporary shelter built six years ago by Sandy and myself has got to come down soon :( to make way for the extension(please lend me the money Northern Rock) . But there is a big positive. Part of the deal is a workshop/Garage the whole depth of the house so i can get at least one boat inside properly and Shoestrings wooden mast will be dry.
Just need to persuade the bankers(not rhyming slang) that I earn enough to borrow even more money to build it. :?

We built bedrooms on stilts down the side of the house, giving a great space (30 foot long) to work in. Sadly I did not get the sides walled in so its tooo cold to work in in the winter! The walling project is in the list - - somewhere :-(

So I am shedless! Guess the attic sort of counts, as I have pillar drill and bench saw up there.

We've got the big double garage wide enough for 36's mast to sling along the ceiling but that's full of boxes galore, snooker table, piano, tools galore and a fat Merlin so the latest workshop added to the garage front is a mini marqee/temporary garage from Costco. It's a brilliant investment giving about 20ft by 10ft of space and with the addition of various weights and ropes to anchorages (including the towing eyes of my old Polo parked alongside) it stays put even in the recent high winds. The poles are about 3-4 inches diameter and the covering is a thick plastic and it's a hefty construction and it's high enough to get the camper in too. Sandy's been working in there building wardrobes for a customer this week.

Well my little wooden shed has has two merlins, a topper, a bike, and bits. It's only small so one merlins hangs from a scafolding gantry. My workshop has severn pianos , Pat, and one under construction plus a couple of harps and a partridge in a pear tree (actually curtousy of Roger there's a pheasant and a woodcock hanging in the greenhouse) - trouble is I want to get the merlins in one at a time to put a couple of coats of varnish on the decks. The rowing boat is feelimg unloved in the garden this year.

Sheds......you can't have enough.

We ended up building a 20' boatshed for the sailing canoes and kayaks (and about 10 assorted rolled sails, spare masts, booms etc)

Then we built the loft.....another shed to put all the stuff that doesn't fit into the workshop or boatshed

Plenty of room for more.

I am a bit of a "shedist" and was given a book a few years back called Men and Sheds by Gordon Thorburn. A curiosity,a great read and surely an inspiration to us all. Buy and enjoy!

Next time Angie complains about the"shanty town" in our garden I will direct her to look at this thread and your pics inparticular Neil. Thanks all more ammunition for another shed.

My own opinion is that a very good form of mutual marital therapy is to show your shed to members of the opposite sex. A sort of a shed swingers club.

I am convinced there is money to be made in this as a form of "alternative therapy" although incoming government legislation will require practioners to be placed on a national register. Looks like another project there for Davidh?

I get to use the garage in the back garden as well as the potting shed but thats full of old childrens bicycles and tend to infiltrate the front garage when my wife's not looking. Like the bed I get booted out now and again and the car boot/back seat is quite a good buffer zone for stuff you can't quite let go of at the tip.

Oh, there's the childrens summer house as well. (good excuse that one for sneaking in a bit of extra space.)
I'm still working on the Attic for the sails. So much drier, less mildew in the cloth etc, but I need to earn some brownie points.

Attics harbour mice!! The best place for sails is under the spare room beds!! Never go for one of these divan things - there is no space under them. The Scandinavians - a great seafaring set of nations - have (through IKEA) designed their beds specifically for sail storage, with bed frame and mattress!!
