To my eye, at least, the lines of the CUCC 12 footer in Uffa's pre-War book look identical to the lines of the Firefly in his postwar book.
The construction of course was different - the CUCC 12 footer was clinker.

Another interesting 'snippet' that surfaced during my research on the '48 event!
There is more than a tad of evidence that Charles Currey was less that 100% in love with the Firefly. His own thinking on National 12s suggested to him that the stern sections were pulled in too hard, reducing buoyancy aft, putting more rocker into the aft sections which in turn made the boat slower and less stable downwind.
He tried to get Fairey's to retool but time and lack of resources were against him - plus (and here is where the record gets to the point that you have to do your own thinking) I doubt that they wanted a similar - but better, competing boat.
Shame - it could have been something really good, but in the end never happened.
