You can buy a pretty strong preparation of formic acid as a kettle descaler from some ironmongers - check the label as the weaker ones are citric acid.
I got the epoxy off the topsides of my Nutshell dinghy with a hot air gun and a scraper - it came off reasonably well, but I was glad there is only nine feet of her! I know that was SP because I put it on when I built her in 1991. I replaced it with Coelan, because she is a hard working little boat, but that is another story...
Epoxy - how do I get it off?

IC K229 nameless for the time being
I14 K377 "Mercury" - long term rebuild project
Re: Epoxy - how do I get it off?
My experience is that SP epoxy comes off pretty easily with a little heat.
I can't remember which, but either West or Sicomen (my current resin - which is brill) is a much tougher and a complete sod to remove, even with heat.
Guess I am going to find out soon as 18ft of jollyboat hull becons!
cheers
