Thanks for the replies I'm waiting for Glodbergs to come back wth some prices. MR2127 is a Mike Jackson Supersticion design built in 1968 by Anders,Ridgen & Perkins used to be in Whitstable. It had been laying in a dinghy park for an age so theres some bits of rotted planking the transom needs scarfing decking etc etc and it seemed a shame for it to go to waste. Actually I haven't sailed for about 10yrs and dinghies another 10ish so I'm rather looking forward to getting it in the water and getting wet haha

Dave,
One thing your boat is a sistership to my Flower Child which was superbly built be aware that ARP used Western Red Cedar rather than Mahogany in much of the construction this was at my request to save weight and add stifness strength not being an issue in and understressed boat like a 1960-70's Merlin Rocket!
Got any pictures of the damage?

Re: marine wood suppliers
Regarding boatbuilding timber I have no use for this personally as I have no intention of a major prang!
I have an option on about 3 cubic metres of Cuban Mahogany (Felled in the 1940's.)
Cuban Mahogany is golden incolour when varnished. See picture.
This is in planks about 3.5 metres long averaging 40mm thick and between 50mm and 700mm wide.
The FOB Hull price I have been quoted is 2000 Euros.
I am happy to exercise my option if enough people would like a sensible bit of it.

Re: marine wood suppliers
A plank or two I'm not getting into cutting up wood!
I'd get it all delivered to a central place.

Crikey, AG!
Cuban Mahogany is the stuff that American yachts of the Golden Age were planked with, in preference to teak - all those Herreshoff, S&S, Rhodes and Alden boats from yards like Herreshoff, Nevins, and such.
(sticks hand up and expresses interest!)
