mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....................

I would get a bit of each and see how you get on.

The last lot that I got from Robbins was a bit thinner than 2mm....and they didn't have anything else.

I think you will find that the inner layers are close to 3mm....but outer layer tends to be a bit thinner.

3mm veneer is quite a bit harder to work with than 2mm....so I reckon you might prefer to end up with the thinner stuff on the outside.

What do you think Rupert?

How are you going to pull it down? Staples work well.....but last time I did it I vaccumed it....which worked really well and was dead easy.....even done in my agricultural way!

Thanks Ed
Not sure yet how to hold it down. I guess staples leave holes.
How did you do the vaccum bag ?

2mm will be much easier to work with. Certainly they were thich enough for a Firefly's hull. Did the JB use more veneers than the 3 for the Firefly?
I've not tried vacuum bagging, but I assume it involves a hoover somehow?
Unless the staples are under where the gunwale is going to be they do seem to show up rather alot. There must be a way round this that I've not found. They also tend to split the wood if not careful.
