Oscillating Multi Tools?

Post by neil »

In one of the current Land Rover magazines there's a review of oscillating multi tools.

This one came out on top for the budget buy - http://www.blackanddecker.co.uk/powerto ... o/MT250KA/

Has anyone tried one?

I'm thinking of use as a scraper or sander between the ribs of Zenith.

Tinhay Building Supplies (lifton) had a deal on for quite a nice one.....can't remember the make, but one of those more obscure pro makes...

might be worth looking in to see if it is still there.

I have never used one, but they do look like they might be a useful tool to have in the armory.

cheers

I did a glowing report. BandQ Pro one. Just fantastic tool. I use it all the time. More use for restorations and repairs than fresh build. I used it this week to cut out some panelling in the downstairs loo. Sander head is decent too.

Safe as well, dont cut skin.

Bought a Bosch one today and am very impressed. The high frequency oscillation for sanding is great, also used it to cut timber - very impresssed.

Looks like I've found the ideal tool for sanding between ribs.

I had a Fein multimaster for many years it was a very useful tool but blew up on me. It turned out to be a faulty component (capacitator) & a new one was fitted. It too blew up. That was the end of that. My father had one of the same tools that he never used & passed it to me. That too blew up but this time i got a shock from it. Same fault. Both tools were lightly used. I wont buy another one!

now I think about it....that was the make that was going cheap at local tool-merchant -Tinhay...

Please can you let us know how you get on with it, I'm tempted but the feed back on Amazon is very poor regarding the durability of the Bosch tool.

Looks like a decent deal in Lidl on their own brand Oscillating Multi Tool for £29.99 (http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl ... _38690.htm) and the accessories for £6.99 a set - http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl ... _38692.htm

The Parkside stuff is normally pretty good.

took the plunge on the Lidl one and got the last one they had.

probably will only be lightly or intermittently used, so hoping it will last reasonably well. can't complain re: the price. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have a feeling the accessories are the standard Bosch fitting. If you do buy one get a couple of accessory packs to go with it as the blades are usually £8 - £10 each for the Bosch ones.

I managed to get the last one in Tavistock today. They had sold out of the accessories pack, as had the Plymouth one. If anyone happens to be in a Lidl and sees the accessories pack can you please get me a one or ideally two and I'll sort out reimbursement.

thanks
