Hi Stu,

This is not really an additive, but have you tried speed grip or pro grip? They are often used on the dance floor of IC's. I haven't used them, but I have heard good things about them.....

Only one bad thing, it isn't cheap.

You could try the sugar method. Simply paint/varnish the surface and whilst still wet sprinkle sugar on. Once it's totally dry rinse with warm water which will dissolve the sugar grains leaving a non-slip finish which won't tear you or your wet-suit to shreds.
Best wishes

I too like the sugar method. You can change the amount of grip by using finer or coarser grained sugar, too!

Just take care cleaning it off - the sugar itself tears everything to shreads till it dissolves.

The only thing I have against sgar is that it is the perfect environment for bacterial growth and I can't quite see how it all gets washed away especially when the varnish encases it. I used varnish and fine sand on my floorboards and after 5 years they still are pretty good.

pro grip in the form of algeos eva foam from a chiropodists supplier, or in the guise of funky foam from hobbycraft.

What do surfers use to "wax" their boards? Would that be any good!

Alternatively you could turn it round. What about wearing the grip?

There are various forms of "oversize trousers" I have seen for this, which would also allow you to keep a nice smart shiny finish on your topsides (and for that matter your bottomsides.  )

Instead of the boat looking like a dork, you do!

...but you can always go and change.

Progrip is a bit heavy for a Moth. Also if you get a crack in the deck or something it will hide it, which isn't great. I've used surf wax. The trouble is it gets indescribably filthy and you have to put a considerable thickness on before it works well. These days I use International deck paint on Canoes. It seems to stay on remarkably well.

I use Sex Wax on drumsticks, wouldn't let it anywhere near my boat - well maybe the tiller extension.

Wax is not a problem I have it lying around as my surf boards are due for a clean and rewax but I don't think I would like to use on my deck as it seams to get every where I think I will give the.sugar another go ,
