Enterprise repair

Post by mikebilson »

Hi just brought a enterprise for my dad's 50 birthday. But it needs a lot of work started last weekend the varnish as all bubbled and cracked so I've stripped it all off someone as told teak oil is the better than varnish is that right? And has anyone got any photos I can look at for the mast and rigging. Cheers mike

Hi,

On plywood, I'd go for varnish over teak oil every time.

I agree with Rupert,
I used two coats of teak oil on our garden table it looked good when I had done it but after one winter the wood was black, I sanded it off and applied two coats of varnish, two winters later it looks ok but I will have to revarnish it next year as the wood is just starting to mark. In my non scientific test, varnish is three times as effective.
