daggerboard case lining

Post by Nessa »

I offered to reseal a daggerboard case on a friend's europe only to find there is a considerable amount of rotten wood both on one side of the case and in the front end. As far as I can see the only real solution would be to reline the affected area, but I'm not sure I'm up to the task.

Any suggestions.

If it has so much rot I think I'd replace the lot as its quite likely there's some rot in the hog as well. I usually find the thought of such jobs is worse than getting on and doing them!

Don't do half the job but start at the beginning and just work through it.
Alternatively host another great event and Roger and I will bring our tool kits!

that's a good offer! We will certainly be running a cvrda event again, maybe even a National Rally if asked, but I think this job needs doing a little sooner! The thing is, I have no idea where to start with it.

Can you get some photos showing which parts are affected? I'm sure my Dad could find suitable offcuts to make up a new case or just the packing pieces if its saveable.
