Hi all,

I'm just putting on the wooden gunwales of Pearson Finn K149 and have noticed that the starboard quarter has a bulge in it when seen from above.

Does anyone else have a bulgy Finn, or am I the lucky owner of a Friday afternoon special?

Regards.

Can you expain what you mean by a bulge, and have you checked it's not the same on both sides. All Finns have a 'tumblehome' near the stern which means the deck is narrower than the hull. Check if its not just this you're looking at and have a look at other Finns. The classic Finn page on the BFA website has a couple of pictures that might help you. Its very unlikley that a Finn really is bulging out as they're so strongly built in the first place that they do very little flexing.

Dear Peter,

Thanks for the message, in plan view, the starboard quarter is a different shape to the port, it has been done at the moulding stage. I was wondering if the boats were made in a split mould and somehow they bolted two different halves together!
