old 505s
Re: old 505s
406something makes it about 1971 (looking at http://www.int505.org/index.php?option= ... Itemid=124) so there's no problem with your boat being welcome at a CVRDA event
Re: old 505s
I seem to recall that Shearwater has a 16ft limit so best to check with someone from the club to see if they can waive it for the CVRDA event. It would be good to see her on the water.
Where do you noprmally sail her?

Re: old 505s
Is this the case? I thought Bough Beech certainly had a OA Length restriction, Hornets are 16'+ welll 4865mm min length too. Jollyboat certainly is. Do they measure them? Neither looks long!
Simples.
Re: old 505s
I have never seen a tape measure produced at Bough Beech but the rule is upheld. Sadly we had to say no to a Thames A Rater this year.

Re: old 505s
Shearwtare does have limit of 16ft unfortunately and the Longleat estate have been very fussy recently. I expect you may not really find it that suitable for 505 anyway. The lake is not big and very shifty winds sometimes. plenty of other CVRDA events are much more suitable though so don't give up!
Re: old 505s
Baltic Wharf would be much better water for the 505 - assuming there are no restrictions. For Shearwater you need a boat that can drift in no wind and tack on a sixpence at every shift. Which is probably why Rupert's Firefly does so well
