How many singlehanded dinghy classes in the UK
How many singlehanded dinghy classes in the UK
Looking in from the other side of the Atlantic, the UK has a sh**load of active singlehanded dinghy classes, many only raced in the UK. I wonder, with the help of this forum, we could list them up and classify them as International or UK only. My gut feeling is the UK has probably 4-5X the number of singlehanded dinghies as any other country. Let me start........

Re: How many singlehanded dinghy classes in the UK
There are probably hundreds of classes that have been built or attempted to be built, but you probably need some kind of qualification to include a boat on your list... I dunno, maybe, for instance, having n boats at a current National Championship or maybe even having one at all, or number of boats built or what...
These are the UK classes I have on my class stats database, but some of these are not in any way active, although I imagine there's at least a boat or two of all of them sailing somewhere. Of course there are lots of other classes about in the world, I know there are European classes we don't see here, and certainly some in NZ and AUS...

Re: How many singlehanded dinghy classes in the UK
As an aside, as it's not really a classic, but there are Blaze fleets in France and The Netherlands, and also soon to appear in South America.... It may primarily be a UK class but the word is spreading....

There are streakers in The Netherlands too.
I saw a lot of Splash dinghies last time I was there. Certainly more there than here.
Fusion.
edit: I see Jim has Splash on his list.

Re: How many singlehanded dinghy classes in the UK
The Splash is a popular junior boat on the Norfolk Broads, it may be geographically in Europe, not sure it is culturally!! Even at Oulton Week we have been known to have a fleet of ten boats competing!!

No mention of the "Foxer" a niche singlehander a gentlepersons conveyance some of which must be CVRDA eligible by now! Big classes in Denmark and on the Hamble.
