Here is a boat we don't see enough of at the cvrda - is it because the old ones have all fallen apart?

Great litle boat but it may be that most of us are far to heavy for them or as you say have fallen apart.

Good boat for the Nationals at Clywedog, I'd have thought, if the strong winds of yesteryear are repeated - they don't half shift in a blow.

Every dog has its day - if the wind drops, so will its chances. I doubt we will get any, anyway.

Hmm Rupert do you know of one. If the wind blows Shoestring will be shore based and I will happily have a go. You can go in the front end though I am far to big.

Junior group at Whitefriars own one which qualifies. Trouble is, the front is fixed together with chewing gum, so if you put any rig tension on the boat gets a nice smile where the hull meets the deck!
I think I might stick with the Firefly...

Re: 420 is 50
Hi raced an original Horror Marine (Honnor Marine) 420 when I was a kid. Luckly I was not the owner the school brought it for two of us to race. What was great at that time was that only juniors were allowed to use a Trapeze. The result of this was that the adults used to get thrashed once the trapeze could be used to advantage. The problem with the 420 at this time was the build quality it was poor and the use of wood for mast partners and other load bearing parts caused problems were it put pressure on the over light fibre glass hull structure. We sailed it for a year had a ball but it started to show it's weak structure, and then we brought my first Hornet with which we swam alot but thats another story.

Alan, my school bought one of these Honor Marine jobs to replace a couple of Enterprises. It was a dreadfull flimsy thing and fell to bits after two years. It was as stiff as jelly and the finish was British Leyland friday afternoon. Everyone wanted the Ents back.
