Dave so you will be sailing a horrible Hobie 14 next year? Or could it be worse and you have found a stripped out trapeze equiped Humber Yawl. Cheers Al

There are just too many lost designs out there, David...

Was the H bit a red herring?

All this Buzzing does suggest some kind of winged insect, (Not a Moth either.)

...and the "Coughing" Major had the benefit of 4 prompts and Mr Whittock (Hrrrmph, YES!)

I do wonder if DH is looking at the Hornet as a dinghy that has lost its class... so to speak.

I like Nessa's "Lazy E" as well. Plenty of stuff on those that tended to come away in your hand, especially the transom. Now that would be worth seeing!

NESSA...and anyone else interested in the Mirror14/Marauder

Have posted a load more pics courtesy of Dave Whittock - in both the main story and in the 'One off' section.

Am expecting more detail to come through very soon....

As soon as I get some more detail on the GHarrier will do the same there and of course there are other 'lost classes' soon to be reappearing - Ruperts Minisail being just one!

Posting some stuff on old fireballs I remembered Dougal was getting quite exited about "big meatballs"

So is he dancing to the "Calypso beat" this summer?

Nessa (but all those really interested in the minuatae of dinghy construction...

have uploaded a whole series of pictures that document the building of Marauder 1005 (the most successful boat in the class...) and that is now all in place on the pages dedicated to 1005. Nessa - may have some interest for your rebuild....

Compulsory kit for this boat I presume requires you to wear Leather Tights, boots, a foppish hat and a mask, and the ability to speak like Antonio Banderas.

... Or better still, purring!

There used to be a dinghy high up on the beach at Widemouth - Bude - Cornwall over the summer months.

Plastic - and like a longer Ent in shape. I always presumed it was a Lazy E, but without a tape-measure or a good idea of what either boat looked like....It could of just as easily been a Zenith.

Either way it looked rather good fun.

That's a bit of a find if DavidH's new boat is a Zenith - I hope so!

There are very few left now, I know of 5 in total although I expect there could still be one or two in east Anglia which belonged to the last few people to run the ZCOA which fizzled out in the mid 90s.

Coincidently someone posted about Zeniths in the Y&Y How old is your Boat section a couple of days ago - they have one they are potentially looking to pass on to a good home (or possibly sail again themselves), they are in scotland and their boat has been garage stored so should be fairly sound.

There is also Z81 which my Father has which is free to a good home (see post in for sale section) but is in need of ALOT of work (any brave souls out there?).

If the boat Ed spotted in Cornwall is plastic then it almost certainly is not a Zenith because wood is the only material permitted in the class rules.

Cheers,
Keith
