Boxing Day Sail

Post by PeterV »

I'm not sure why the Boxing Day race had to be cancelled!

Peter,

If the tide was okay it would be a fair day for a sail here - no snow, lovely sunshine. I'm on y way to the club to take some pictures of a sail and cover, will post one of the general view to make you all jealous!

We have an open pursuit race on Boxing Day at Nottingham. Usually 20 -25 boats turn out, mostly home boats but all visitors are very welcome. It is not taken very seriously and ends with mince pies and mulled wine indoors.
Today there was sheets of ice floating down the Trent but six of us ventured out in a gentle breeze which suited me in the Firefly very well and SWMBO has a bottle of plonk to show for it.
I have never seen so much ice on the Trent but at least we don't get totally frozen, it looks like the New Year race at Notts County won't be happening this year, same as last.
So bear us in mind if next year is another freezer.
All the best
Steve
