Express handicap

Post by Rupert »

Just had this message through:

Message:
Does anyone have any idea of a realistic Portsmouth Yardstick to
enable an express dinghy to compete in a mixed fleet dinghy race?

I've suggested a starting point of 1150 - anyone already got any returns for them?

I don't have a figure in any of the PY tables I have.
My finger would be in the air somewhere in the 1150-1200 region too.

Yes I'd agree with 1150 they were the same rating as a Graduate (124 in old money) when they were built in the 70s.

We have a large photo on the wall in our clubhouse of an Express open meeting which was an early promotion for the class. I remember our top Grad sailors trying them out but they never really caught on.
