UK Javelins
UK Javelins
I'm trying to create a database of past PY numbers, and I'm getting very confused with Javelins... In the 80s in various years there are entries in the PY lists for Javelin 16, Javelin (Milne), and just Javelin. Only one in any given year, and all PY 98 or 99 (926-936 in modern money). I guess the smart money is these are all the Peter Milne design boat, but why on earth would it have been known as Javelin 16? Can anyone recall?

Exactly so. That's what I'm at a loss to understand. But I can find nothing that suggests there's been a 16ft Javelin class anywhere in the world*, let alone the UK. If ever two Javelin classes had been listed on the same YR2 handout I'd be sure there had been two, but that was never the case.alan williams wrote:Two Classes? Milne Javelin is bigger than 16ft.
(in spite of the post on the YY forum where the UK Javelin folk are quoted as claiming the NZ and USA Javelins, both 14', are 16')
