Bobbin question

Post by chris »

I have had this question from someone. Can you help?

Message:
I have owned a Bobbin sailing dinghy for 40 years or so and have
recently refitted it. Is there any class association or group for
either 'Bobbin' or its larger Pearson Bros. sister, 'Sailaway'?

Just us, I think. Do Pat and Sandy still own a Bobbin?

Yes we do still have Bobbin 1365 but there's no class association or anything.

Well if that makes three and it is a lost class, we ought to hold their nationals then.
There are a few other small craft that have made an appearance so why not make an event?

Years ago, when the world was young, we did discuss running a tiny boat event, maybe on a tiny piece of water (Chippenham, I believe) but it never got off the drawing board.

P is planning to bring her Puffin to Staunton Harold, as Kand C are tied up with the boy's GCSE things, so if anyone else fancies bringing something slow to keep her company, please feel free! Handicap somewhere in the region of 200, we think...

Can I claim my Cape Cod Frosty as a lost class? It is the only one in the country.....

I think a 'tiny boat' event would be a great idea!

What length do you have to be to be 'tiny'

Tideways OK? Firefly?

Mirrors and smaller? Firefly sized is trending towards the smaller end of normal, I'd say.
Tideway has slowness on its side, which means it would fit in better than a Firefly.
Frosty would be welcome!

Their are a few small boats at our club, most have been owned by Paul, or are still owned by him, I know to a Sailaway, not sure what the smaller boat is.

Mirrors, Herons, Gulls...... a small boat event would be nice at one of the small venues. My Bobbin needs some serious tlc after being borrowed and misused - the force on the rowlocks snapped off parts of the gunwhales and the paint is peeling. Trouble is there's three Merlins in the queue first!
