Hi Trebor,
I found this on the Selden website and thought of you!

(I was looking for one of those old adjustable goosenecks with a thumb screw.) Doesn't really need to jam as the goose neck will act as a sliding cunningham tensioner. It will allow me to use several different luff length mainsails.

Re: Enterprise lack of pointing
Thanks for this Michael,
I have two Masts for this boat, one with spreaders one without, I am at the moment using the one without spreaders.
The pointing inability was quite drastic, normally you can out point most boats, but last week, Comet's and a Mirror were easily outpointing us.

Hello Trebor
Short tiller
Mast without spreaders
Wonky rudder
You are cruising not racing sailing like this
To go faster you could ,
Keep the traveler centered on the transom , with leech tension from a cascade kicking strap
If the boom is anywhere near the quarters you are reaching not beating unless overpowered ( or really light )
Look up, is the top batten parallel to the boom ?
Sail with boom near center line of boat
Use a mast with spreaders ( and as above read tuning guides )
If the blades are plywood change them . There is a good epoxy coated centerboard on e bay by Tony Thresher at the moment ,also I think I saw good rudder
Dont sail with windward jib tell tales streaming aft all the time ( unless you need power to overcome a lop ) try keeping them flicking 45 degrees up and above horizontal all the time
Sit right forward with a long tiller ext. push crew into shrouds
Keep the boat bolt upright unless very light , or capsized
I have just bought an old Ent myself after years out of the class and surprised how well they go
Old Enterprises can be quite fast still , although they need to be about down to weight and with decent sails
Cheers
Peter

Hi Pete,
I have two set up's for this boat, cruising and racing, I need to change the mast back to one with spreaders and make sure I use correct tiller, for certain, whole assembly of tiller and rudder needs looking at.

Just looked and there is a nice vintage racing Tony prior race rudder on E bay at the moment £ 45 , tiller and bag
I forgot to ask if you are using an old style rudder blade , if so , don t !

Re: Enterprise lack of pointing
That's the one I have, but not the cranked tiller, visually mine looks better, but blade loose in stock.
