The quiz is now available....link on the homepage.

If you have any queries post them here and I'll try and respond. I'm happy to let in run to the new year until the 6th of January, though if more time is needed let me know.

It certainly made a change to get the books out before Christmas, though I did use some quite obscure texts for some of them:D

Enjoy

Nigel Wailer built which allegedly lopsided 12 footer designed on a beer mat?

Nigel Waller should be the builder question 22.

Interesting - I've actually found an answer for Nigel Wailer on that one...I believe the same spelling mistake, I'll post the link after the quiz is over, if I can find it again!

Hmmmmm. If we have found what we are pretty sure to be an error, do we do the nice thing and point it out? Or do we let some other poor B suffer too????

Great work from the Esteemed Quizmaster by the way. Some of the picture recognitions have got me rattled.

For me there's three stages to answering the quiz. The first, and most interesting is seeing how many you can answer without looking anything up or going near the internet. This year I reckon I've got about 31 answers, or parts of answers.
Then I start looking things up. I don't enjoy this bit as much, it seems a bit like cheating and initially I find a few of my guesses confirmed, which is pleasing, but also some other wrong.
The third stage is where I always lose interest, wondering how much time I'm going to devote to searching for obscure answers. At some time during this stage I give up (usually fairly early!) and submit my answers, knowing I will not be in with a chance of winning.

I follow the same process, Peter, and agree the most satisfying from a quiz point of view are the ones you can get without looking them up. However, I find the final stage, where I learn new and completely obscure facts that took much searching through old books and the internet great fun, if very frustrating...And I've learned many things which weren't in the quiz. Sadly not so many that actually gave answers!
Must get back to it before Kathryn comes home and tells me off...

A quick update to question 6. The question should have read 70 years ago which Uffa Fox design had over 150 boats built by its first championship?

Apologies for any confusion, and thanks to Rupert and Chris for pointing out the error, though I'm sure they both have the correct answer anyway.

Is the final entry date and time still tomorrow?

Any chance we can make it the end of the weekend?

Have done all the obvious and easily researched ones, but could do with another hour or so for the more complicated ones.....

On the other hand....the chance of getting those hours might not be so high.

cheers

To be honest I have the paper to finish, 5 research bids to mark and a couple of PhD chapters to read this weekend so I won't get around to looking at the quiz until Monday. So if you all want an extension to Monday I'm happy.

I've had two people return their answers so far. If there are any more out there please email them to me, I feel guilty now that I may have killed off the quiz after such good responses in previous years.
