Hi Roger

I am too busy stripping, pond sealing, fitting bits on Peggie 199 then I have to repair holes in Peggie 251 and fettle, then running repairs maintenance on the ff.

If I get all that done I have to rebuild the front of the caravan as I had an argument with an overhanging tree and broke front window and re-shaped profile.

Our season starts Easter weekend but I hope to be at BW with something to sail probably with David.

All the best

Wow Neil she looks fantastic.

Might bring Shoestring to BW as long as there are no Hailstorms

I agree - this looks the real dogs B's and a contender for the concours prize. It is almost enough to make one want to sail a Finn BUT........... I've just added a classic Phantom to my fleet so no new boats for me for a while.

Several old sailing friends are now sailing in the Finn Masters series and enjoying it... it worries me now that I'm even thinking along the lines that this could be a possibility......

Now where is that article about the Phantom bandit handicap being even better than the OK handicap ?????????????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The phrase about people in glass houses ........................... also comes to mind

ex Peggy & OK sailor now boatless (except for a laser) - but only 5 weeks to retirement just to make you all jealous - see you at BW

Hi Dave Just one problem Phantoms are to young to be CVRDA able.
So you had better get a Finn.

I thought they were 1985? will go and research

Edit: i was wrong it was designed in 1971, but i was not aware that boats needed to me designed before 1965 so it will be dependant on the race officer at the ev ent as to wheather he feels it is fair for you to race, i guess.

worry not - I wasn't planning on trying to sneak the Phantom in as a 'ringer' - though after all, boats with a favourable handicap are hardly anything new..........

I know that I ought really to do the Finn thing but just can't bring myself around to it, besides, we don't get much pack ice at Netley so a practical use for such a boat wouldn't arise!!!!!
I am though looking forward to sailing both the Merlin and Unit 7, the famous Sandtex Scow and will stick at that.

However - here is a quandry. If the Unit is 'in' then how about a very early Contender?????? We've got a real oldie at Netley (he joined you on the Sunday) and in theory he should be okay, as long as it stayed in it's 1969 'format'...

The Contender, sadly, fails to qualify, but I'm sure a very old one would be welcomed at an event even if not allowed in the prizes. Would be up to the event organizers, really.

Back to original thread!
I've suggested Starcross and Beastie with the modern Lark as it's the only one of our ten boats up together :(

Sandy's wavering as we haven't been in a boat since October unless you count the Brownsea ferry, so it depends on the weather - and whether we manage to buy a small JCB (no, I don't mean a Clywedog Flying Fifteen) as there's so much we are trying to do to the home we may limit our sailing a bit this year.
Big water events will however get priority - Clywedog, Roadford, Netley and Brightlingsea with Pyefleet week very much a possibility. One thing we're NOT doing this year is drifting around with no wind - no blow, no go!
