The Best tea of the year!! 4th and 5th October
Re: The Best tea of the year!! 4th and 5th October
Are there likely to be any classics 14s at this event? I used to be a Shearwater member (many years ago) and have family nearby, so could easily find an excuse for a visit. I need to see some 14s to work out the layout for 869, recently purchase from ebay.

Nessa its unlikely but Nick Clibborn may be able to help you. He has a nice classic 14 at Frencham Pond.
It would be lovely to see you and if you dont have a sailable boat at present I am sure we can sort you out a ride in one. or even the loan of one.
You may even come across a few characters from the past.
Or nightmares. Jack Langley, Nick Cross, Colin Singer?

I do plan to be at Shearwater on the Saturday, but sadly minus 839. We'll just be on a flying visit. 839 is available at any time for inspection/ideas. It's at home at the moment in Farnham. Nessa, give me a ring if you want to have a look - 01252 311982.

Look like we'll be able to make it - but minus Mercury or Fireball.
Sandy and Pat - dunno whether Chris has told you, but he's offered us Lark 40 to mess about in! Looking forward to it. Will try and bring down some other Bristol Avon bods too.

Currently boatless - but watch this space.

Re: The Best tea of the year!! 4th and 5th October
Given the forecast, singlehanded in the Firefly looks to be a little silly, so if there are any small boned, slightly bendy boatless people out there who would like a crewing job, let me know!

Will certainly be coming but may only be able to make sunday.
Jollyboats's too long so Minisail and Optimist for my crew or possibly in a borrowed Firefly.
Have received request from crew to do more trapezing.
So I know it's a bit of long shot.
But does anyone have a Pegasus that needs some exercise ?

Re: The Best tea of the year!! 4th and 5th October
Looks like I am dragging Aberdeen weather down to Shearwater with me so would like to apologise in advance. Having said that I was reliably informed that "doon sooth" weather is warmer and less windy than that which we have in the frozen north so would just like to know whether I am being conned - especially after Clywedog and now Shearwater. Whatever I am sure we'll all have a great time. See you on Saturday.

Enough wind but not too much but southerly will be shifty because of the trees.
Bob I've emailed you.

20mph at 1900 youll be off the water by then and eating your hard earned evening meal. Boscombe down is very much higher and more exposed so it wont be that bad.

I hope to be there Saturday with Diabolo, no cotton sails or wooden mast yet though.

Re: The Best tea of the year!! 4th and 5th October
I'm afraid that due to knackering my knee I'm not going to be there.
Re: The Best tea of the year!! 4th and 5th October
Nick. It will be good to see diabolo. Are you interested in a cotton main? I have one (ex 61) that has a 19' 3" luff 81" foot. made by Sadler and son Burnham on Crouch.
