Mr. Ben wrote:Unfortunately there's no way I can make Roadford however, after the event last weekend at Thames, I've now got a CVRDA banner that needs to get there somehow. There was no one left after racing on Sunday who was definitely going to the nationals to give it to. So before I pay to post it to Roger (probably not cheap) can I check whether anyone who is going, lives in or is passing through SW London in the near future. Happy to meet somewhere convenient. You'll recognise me - I'll be wearing a red carnation and waving a damn great banner with CVRDA written on it. Perhaps it can make it's way there in the manner of a Flying Dutchman mast!

Any takers?
I'll be at Putney on Friday, Ben, so I think I'll be able to collect. Trouble is, I'm not sure of any timings currently.
I'll PM you.

I will be sailing at Wraysbury throughout the first week of August (along with hundreds of Scouts  ) I can then pass it to one of the Shearwater members who will be going to Roadford - heck I still might make it to the Nationals myself!

That would be much easier on the timings, I think, as I'll be bringing my parents back from a funeral, the get together afterwards could go on a bit.

Is it now certain that there is racing for the cvrda on the Saturday, please? If so, I'll need to sort some child care for the afternoon.

A sailpast/cruise and concourse is planned on the Saturday. However there are a couple of races happening with the Goodacre if CVRDA boats want to take part and use this for practice

Can we sort the timings so we can both practice race and sailpast and concourse on saturday? We'll certainly need the practice - boat is still in barn unrepaired from last year!

Thanks Neil, that sounds like an excellent compromise.
Will Rannoch be around at all to gaze at longingly?

I've very suddenly landed an assignment in the US for the next 2 weeks leaving tomorrow. Yikes! That means I need someone who is going to Roadford to send me their address ASAP so I can post the banner out THIS AFTERNOON.

For interest, to see what I'll be doing, go to http://www.steamcar.co.uk. I'll apparently be in charge of re-fuelling during the record attempts.

Just a thought...will there be any crews up for grabs at Roadford?

There is still a chance that the Smoker can make it... and I can give Sandy his lifejacket

and I can be there for the agm.... and help alan drink his way back to hornetdom

and..and... and...

Charlie (age 9) would probebly be up for it, but he hasn't learnt the art of spinnakers yet. I can vouch for his tacking ability!

I have now been excused athletics duties for this weekend so may yet make it. I will either attempt to bring the Bonito or be a bystander willing to crew.

For those coming without helm/crew spots there will be at least one Finn free and a crew position in a Zenith, so no excuses for staying away.
