Shearwater next!

Post by Rupert »

We now have a pause to rebuild our boats after the Nats before heading off to the small but perfectly formed Shearwater on 2nd October.
Shearwater is one of the oldest events on the calendar, and they put on an amazing spread at tea time! The sailing is in a very small area, so you are guarenteed a race wherever you are in the fleet, and it is a great place to test your boat handling.
I love the place!

I will try and be there. Might leave my spinnaker at home though.

We promise to fly our spinny as usual - unless we use the Albacore :)

I will come if I can find a stand in SI at Hunts (a hen's teeth situation, but you never know) I don't know if I will be able to sail, or even what we would bring, but I'd just like to see Shearwater again. Plus I could top up the west country accent!

According to the OT I saw today my range of movement is good, but my grip strength is awful compared to my left hand. None of this helped by having had the shoulder op last Friday which has made me sore all over again...but there is time. It is more getting instructor cover that is the issue. If we did bring a boat it would have to be the Simoun because it is the only one that safely floats and is moveable, but we are too fat for it unless it blows, in which case I wouldn't risk sailing because of my arm....

If I can find a stand in it would be nice just to visit, plus I could go see my Dad.

Would you rather just crew for someone or borrow a boat?

I plan to bring Unit 7, although there are several non boat related hurdles to cross first!

And of course she is still for sale. just too many boats even though I've sold the Blaze.

Going in Unit 7 is fine, it's turning round thats fun, and the reputed close confines of Sheerwater may make that rather important

Would be good to see you there - the last time you were there was in a BM too, wasn't it? - I believe you won a race, as well!
Mind, that involves me getting there, seeing you there...I shall try!

BMs have always gone well there. I thought of getting one for those days when I was crewless.
