Are any Classic Finns looking to do the Nationals at Christchurch - 6th, 7th and 8th May?

Thanks to 5000 swimmers (sounds worse than killer shrimp) Ben has had to move the Thames event by one week, to 23rd July, with more on the Sunday (24th) for those who can stay.

Pat, would you be able to change the front page, please?

Another confirmed date - Bough Beech will be running on Saturday April 30th.

I've not had any approaches about an event for the 1st May Bank holiday (May 2nd?), so I assume this date is OK.

I might do, depends on cost, transport and if I have earned enough brownie points for a weekend away!

Keith, holidays begin end of July?

We could either do early July or early August - both are free, though we have events on the last weekend of June and 2nd to last weekend of July, so it might be worth leaving a weekend between if possible.

There will be a Classic Finn Nationals which will take place on the weekend of 11/12th June next year hosted by the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club in Falmouth which is being run as a prelude to the 'Finn Festival' hosted in Falmouth in 2012 in the lead up to the Olympics.

The festival will run over a ten day period and will take in the UK Finn Nationals, and most importantly the Finn Gold Cup (Worlds) the Gold Cup is by qualification only and limited places will be fiercely fought over in 2011, and with the Olympic Circus at Weymouth within weeks of the Gold Cup the the entry and standard from overseas will be huge.

The Classic Finns have been fortunate in that we have been offered our own event by RCYC to be held in the Carrick Roads between the two events, which will give us the opportunity to be part of the overall event itself which is not to be missed.
With the Finn World Masters also being held in 2012 in late May at Pwllheli this is the year to be sailing a Finn in the UK and get involved in the action.

You're confusing me here. I take this as 11th and 12th June 2011 then another event next year between the two big events. Do you have the dates for that?

Sorry if I have confused you.
Should read;
Classic Finn Nationals June 11th/12th 2011 (Falmouth).

Finn Festival 2012 (June 2012 Falmouth), which will include Finn Nationals, Finn Classic Nationals and Finn Gold Cup(Worlds).
The Festival will be preceeded by the World Masters (May 2012 Pwllheli) and followed by the Olympics (July/August 2012 Weymouth).

Brooksey,

Stop it... you're making the resolve about Finns weaken...... but being there in 2012 does sound like a lot of fun.

The only problem is that we need 24 months in 2012 to get in all the good events - there are the big celebration 505 Worlds at La Rochelle at about the same time.....

Rupert!

Can you organise please the same weather for Bough Beech (yes, even the gusts) and I'll start Supercrew Jon on the famous 'pie diet' so beloved by Finn and Phantom sailors....

Looking forward to it....

Of course, David!

We now have a date for Bristol Avon, the delightful river club near Bath. It will be our season opener (unless we have anyone wanting an end of March event where Whitefriars was last year?) on April 17th. BASC is the home of the Mercury, as mentioned on David's mystery lost class thread.

This gives us a cracking start to the season, with BASC on Sunday 17th April being followed by BBSC 13 days later on Saturday 30th.
