Not sure quite what this thread is about. It seems to be an opportunity for us all to advertise our various local open sailng events that would provide sport for our own particular style of racing...

A kind of "suggestions box" I suppose.

Here's mine...

http://www.chifed.org/fed_test3_fedweek.htm

Chichester Harbour Federation week is Monday 15th to Friday 19th August this year at Hayling Island. Loads of nearby Campsites or holiday lets. A sheltered sandy beach for children and sunbathing, excellent beer and catering and fabulous views of the racing. Harbour and open sea sailing, Fast medium and slow handicaps with separate starts for asymetrics.

Not a CVRDA regatta, but all in all an excellent location for the CVRDA on tour!?

Have heard that the Hornets are planning their nationals at netley in 2011! From the stats, there should only be about 20 boats. Is it worth asking if they want to share an event?

Neither of my boats have yet recovered from the last netley but I have to say I just love the place. It would be the ideal place for the latest aquisition, the plastic furball!!

At the moment there are so many locations being thrown around I must admit to being somewhat bemused. Some time next week I'll take a look at what we have confirmed already, so that other events can see whether there are spaces that might suit.

Rupert,
That would be good, we intend to have a meeting at Nottingham next year and a list of dates to avoid a clash would be very useful.
Cheers

OK, I'm pleased to say that we have been invited to be part of a larger classics event run by Bosham SC on Chichester Harbour. The date will be 25/26 June. More detail as it becomes available.

So far, then, as far as I can see, we have these dates set:

Bristol Avon - awaiting an April date

Bough Beech 30 April

Roadford 2nd May B/H

Shearwater Anniversary event 19 June - cvrda welcome.

Bosham 25/26 June

Thames 23 July with extra on 24th

Whitefriars Nationals August B/H

Banbury 24 September

Does anyone else have a set date yet - Hunts, Clywedog?

I've added these events to the main site and, having set up the new events software, it's looking good. There's a Google map of all the locations on the forthcoming events page. Who says we're South West based???
Just northern England and Scotland to break into.

Whitefriars and Bristol seem to share post code "shurely shome mistake"?

With most of us, and all the committee except one, residing in the West Country surely we are West Country "Based" we do however travel elsewhere and I at any rate am grateful for the hospitality I receive at clubs all over the country.

I guess we are west country based through history, not design. However, apart from Garry in Scotland, our 2 latest committee members live in West Wales and the Peak District, so a pretty good spread there!

BBSC wanted big time. What is the date? My apologies if you have told me before...brain is failing to cope with more than one thing at a time, and I've just got the Firefly Bulletin sent out. Need to get this sorted before I start on the Lightning Flash newsletter...I think I'm getting old, or maybe I'm just male...

Banbury added to the list for September 24th 2011, in conjunction with the Vintage Merlins, for a delightful Autumnal sail!

Shearwater 50th anniversary open will be Sunday 19th June now. Not cvrda, but most of the boats at the club are cvrda eligible and we already have user friendly handicaps for old Merlins. Cakes are expected to be of the usual high standard. :D
