2012 marks the Fireball's 50th anniversary. The UKFA is currently planning to have No 6 on the stand to remind everyone how Fireball first started life.

Looks like a year of celebrations and lots of classic boats there this year.

The IC Association asked me about showing Conquest at the show.....

I would like to.....but to be honest, I just don't have the money to get her up to Ally Pally and stay around all w/end, so I don't think I will be doing it.

She could also do with a little work before being in a 'show'.

Still its a pity....I know I should really....but hey ho.

I know that feeling!

when the GP's 60th was there 2 years ago, someone else took it down and they GP class paid for a room for anyone helping on the stand all weekend, so we just had to feed ourselves and get there

it still wasn't cheap!! or quiet!!!!!

so we're going to holiday inn a few miles out of the 'town'. and (fingers x'd) get a invite to the 'party' at night that we didn't get an invite too. I wasn't that bothered but it was free food!!!!! and I'd only had the heaters on in the garage from december 25 until the weekend before the show painting and varnishing the boat! LOL i'm not bitter! HONEST! and EON are still moaning that they want to put my DD up just incase I do it again!!!

anyway I'm about to get that soap box out again!!!!

Premier Inns are doing lots of cheap rooms at present - a quick search for the sat night says if you go out of town, you can get the Enfield, Elstree, Borehamwood or Potters Bar hotels for £34 - all with about 10 miles of Ally Pally.
Travelodge are similar but not as nice.

Eon do it as a matter of course. I argue back and get it reduced until about two month later when they send the letter out again. Quite good sport arguing with the person at the call centre if you have time.
Its good accounting really they would rather have YOUR money in THEIRr bank for the winter and give you a refund in the spring so you can feel so much better about it.

Call me a cynic if you wish

Paging Wacko...Paging Wacko...come in Chris Turner.... your time has come! (is it Fireball ^ on the stand or an upside down number 9??

Chris.... some time back - say.... 14-15th months back, I sent you a couple of emails with pictures showing how Jack Chippendale 'changed' the layout of the side tanks on the prototype 'ball to facilitate home building. Do you still have the pictures and if so, can you PM them back to me.

In exchange...I've found another pic of 902, being sailed single handed by Bill Kempner!

See you at the Show

Hi David!

Nice to hear from you and, yes, definitely '6' - not '9' - on the stand!

I expect to be at the show for the duration so if I'm not actually on the stand when you pass by just ask someone who is and they'll get hold of me.

I can't recall if I ever received photos of '2' (the hull that has the curved side tanks) but I'll check later. I do know that your attempts to send a photo of '902' at the time were thwarted as nothing was received after two attempts. I'm still very interested though and would like to upload it to the UKFA website.

If it helps I do have photos of '2' in the UKFA's 25th Anniversary booklet. Let me know. Incidentally, '2' survives and isn't too far from you - she's based at HISC.
