New venue in the darkest Midlands

Post by PeterV »

I've got tentative agreement to hold a CVRDA open next year at Staunton Harold, just South of Derby and about 15 minutes from M1 or M42. The outline I have is for a 2 day open whilst club sailing is also on so I'm currently planning on separate starts on the club courses. We have camping on site and could also do an evening meal.

I'd like to get an idea of preferred time of year so I can negotiate it into the calendar and judge the level of support. As I'm likely to go to the Finn World Masters in June I wouldn't want it then but most other months are possible at the moment.

I would aim to join you for this - no strong preference on timing though....

This could be a great venue for the Minisail Champs, mucking in with the main racing. What do other MS sailors think?

As for timing, whatever works for you and the club, really, there will always be weekends that some can't do. Deciding a date early is the key.

Well placed for me. Don't mind about timing but lots of notice helps me book time off.

I'd probably be up for this, timing not really a problem.

Hi Peter
I would come along for it, so long as you don't make it the same weekend as the Albacore nationals - usually 2nd weekend in August. Still got heaps of old boats at Nottingham and so would be happy to try and drum up support.
Keep us posted

Yes please, two Minisails. Me and Frans (from Holland) would be pleased to attend.

Should have one of my Minisails in racing order by then so that's another one for the MS nationals.

Looking forward to it Peter. The Merlins will be having 70th anniversary events next year which hopefully won't clash.
