Aldeburgh YC 3rd and 4th September 2016

Post by Chalky »

Aldeburgh YC are holding a classic and vintage weekend 3&4 September 2016. Perfect tides and weather forecast. More details to follow but a great weekend promised.
Any one interested? If you haven't been to Aldeburgh before you won't be dissapointed....

This sounds very inviting but I think this might be the same weekend as the Bosham Classic event.

I don't think a clash would be a major issue as there were hardly any CVRDA members at this years BCBR, roger and me? Most of the entries were Bosham sailing club with few from other local clubs.

Aldeburgh is a great venue, plenty of parking, easy access for boats and free camping I understand. A

Also a beautiful bit of countryside...

We spoke to Bosham before we finalised the date, we understand tides dictate their event will be the weekend after i.e 10/11 Sept

Wendy and I quite fancy bringing a boat across and maybe staying over in the area for a few days either side as it is a part of the country we haven't really explored. If it doesn't clash with the Bosham CBR so much the better although I didn't manage to get to that event this year anyway.
Is there somewhere reasonably handy to park a motorhome while we are there?

Regards

Ian

Ian, I don't think we clash with Bosham -we chose the date specifically.
Limited camping and parking for motorhomes will be available at the club. Several people use the car park next to the sailing club. There is also a camp site in the town that doesn't allow tents!
It's a beautiful place to visit. You won't regret coming.

If I can add to that there are lots of great places to park a motor home on the coast, Dunwich comes to mind not far from Aldeburgh and also close to Southwold.

We are happy to confirm we have booked the "Random Blues Company" to play on the Saturday night in the Marquee next to the clubhouse. There will be no extra charge for this event and all competitors and families will be welcome.

Hi All
We are getting very close to finalizing the programme which will appear shortly on the club's website and facebook page. I don't know if it's possible to attach a PDF file to a forum post? Can confirm the club will be open Friday afternoon for early registration + bar till at least 21.00 and it will also be possible to pre-book home made pizza that night. Breakfast and Lunch Saturday and Sunday and an informal supper in the club Saturday night before the "Random Blues Company" kick off in the marquee. Watch this space as they say

We'll be there with the tatty tub so one camper van space please. We'll arrive on Friday as we're making a holiday of it and coming from Hunts the week before and seeing family in East Anglia between events and probably on the way home too!
