Aldeburgh 2019

Post by suffolkmerlin »

We are looking at a change of format next year which if supported by CVRDA members would get the go ahead from the AYC Sailing Committee. This year we had a few problems with members who didn't want to join in the Classic Weekend but still wanted to have a Saturday Series race, although we overcame it, it was not satisfactory. The proposal for 2019,if supported, would be to have a CVRDA start in the afternoons of our annual regatta (18th to 23rd August) There would be a race on Sunday afternoon, no racing Monday as it's Aldeburgh Carnival then three more afternoon races (probably Tuesday,Wednesday and Friday) Thursday is traditionally Orford Day when the faster boats race from the club in the morning down around Havergate Island and finish in Orford, there is no afternoon racing that day. What I think we can offer is a fairly relaxed, but competitive, series of races that could be part of a holiday on the Suffolk Coast (we can offer free camping/camper van parking), all comments appreciated

The cvrda 20th anniversary nationals will be in Roadford over the August bank holiday weekend 24,25,26 so virtually a clash unfortunately.
