ebay Jollyboat

Post by andrew »

Wow look at this.

So far this boat has evaded my radar.
Looks in great condition.
Interesting tanks arrangement with aft, fore and aft/side tanks.
Leaves larger cockpit space.
Have emailed owner for more details.
Will look at JBOA records when I get a chance and try to find her

Had a chat with the owner a retired shipwright.
He built wooden minesweepers and double diagonal ammunition barges.
Crewed Uffa in Cowslip and in a 22 sqm at Uffa Fox centenery.
Transom reglued, redecked, mast reglued etc 15 yrs ago little used since.
Looking for a good home.

With that history the boat certainly needs a good home. Wish I could provide it...

Yes, I know this boat.

a pretty good restoration, when I last saw it.

Can't remember the name of the guy, but may be in your books Andrew....he was a big mate of John Eustace and they both rebuilt their Jollyboats around the same time.

He came to the Uffa Fox centenary.....but not with the boat...

Very nice purchase for someone.....

of course if you want one for free....with just a little work....give me a call :-)

cheers

Bought her at the weekend and now delivered to Bosham.
Delighted :D
She was apparently owned by the proprietor of a pleasure boat business in or near Fowey. She was bought by a Mr Mason (a retired shipwright) in 1995 and brought to Wivenhoe where she has been based since. He (beautifully) completely rebuilt her in classic form and gave her a new name: 'Jolly Fox'.
SN 83 (though no obviously engraved anywhere). Was known as 'Just in Time' and built c1954. Anybody know anything of her early life?

This season is already pretty full with sailing other boats - but Bosham SC is our club. Are you closeby?

I could be completely wrong, but I am sure the chap I bought my Jollyboat from said that they had owned one previously called Just in Time! (I'm sure there was a funny story behind it - sorry my memory is appauling!) It could be a common name for all I know, but I'm sure he said thats what they'd called it. Andrew will be able to tell you the name of the guy that used to own mine - my Jollyboat is No. 325 - hope this helps. Oh, and I'm in Cornwall so would fit in with the Fowey thing.
